I have at least one cup every single day. If my husband brews a pot before he leaves for work, then I drink a cup of coffee here. But if he runs out of time, or pours the entire pot into his mug leaving none for me, then I am forced to go out and buy a cup of coffee elsewhere because I do not know how to make a pot of coffee. I mean, I understand all of the mechanics involved. Grinding the beans, putting a filter in, adding water, however, I have yet to make a pot of coffee that tastes right. I get the measurements all wrong every single time, no matter how many times my husband shows me, tells me, makes me watch him make a pot so I "can learn." That is the reason why I jumped at the chance to participate in the Green Mountain Coffee review. A free Keurig (convenient!) and a whole lot of K-Cup Coffees from Green Mountain Coffee to try? Oh, heck yes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4ErRsBUywZo/TmjlFmGyuXI/AAAAAAAAAtM/HnYdLMmX6nI/s1600/IMG_2420.JPG"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4ErRsBUywZo/TmjlFmGyuXI/AAAAAAAAAtM/HnYdLMmX6nI/s400/IMG_2420.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5650017616827431282" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was provided a case filled with a variety of Green Mountain K-Cup Coffees. I had never tried Green Mountain Coffee, and to be honest, wasn't even aware of the brand. Once we got the Kuerig set up, we each choose a flavor and made ourselves a cup. And then we chose another flavor and a different type and we made another cup and then another. You know what? With the exception of one flavor that was just a little too bitter for my taste, we both absolutely loved the coffee. Even my husband-- who has been addicted to the same brand and has refused to try any other coffee-- loved it and has been drinking it every single morning.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was impressed by the variety of coffees they have to offer. Flavored, regular, decaf, extra bold, seasonal, Fair Trade &amp; Organic, iced coffees! I have to say, I was also impressed with the company itself. Green Mountain Coffee was one of the first brands to sign on with Fair Trade USA. They now offer the largest selection of selection of Fair Trade coffee in the US. Their coffees are available nationally at most grocery stores and also on their &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/itn38"&gt;website&lt;/a&gt;. (You can also visit their &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/I7Rrk"&gt;Facebook page&lt;/a&gt;, where you can find coupons and free samples!) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IqIYd2FK0Xg/TmjIJQHcGqI/AAAAAAAAAs8/W2P_lVQVSV4/s1600/IMG_2423.JPG"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IqIYd2FK0Xg/TmjIJQHcGqI/AAAAAAAAAs8/W2P_lVQVSV4/s320/IMG_2423.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649985793806834338" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What is Fair Trade?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fair trade is coffee that is purchased at a higher price than standard coffee, directly from the growers. This purpose behind Fair Trade is to promote healthier working conditions and economic incentive for producers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How does Fair Trade work?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Coffee farmers join a co-op with other local growers&lt;br /&gt;2. Fair Trade USA and/or their certifying partners work with coffee cooperatives to certify them as&lt;br /&gt;Fair Trade after they meet a stringent set of requirements, including democratic voting among&lt;br /&gt;members, fair labor practices, and the exclusion of using certain chemicals.&lt;br /&gt;3. Growers are guaranteed a minimum price for their coffee. If market prices exceed the minimum,&lt;br /&gt;they receive current market prices plus a per pound premium for community development and&lt;br /&gt;an additional premium for organic coffee.&lt;br /&gt;4. The co-op members vote to determine how to invest the Fair Trade premiums. They might fund&lt;br /&gt;community projects such as schools, health clinics, safe drinking water or new roads.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I personally am willing to pay a bit more for Fair Trade coffee (but happy to say with Green Mountain Coffee, I don't have to), knowing that Fair Trade is helping to create a better working environment for farmers which in turn creates a higher quality product. Everyone wins! (Especially my mouth because... mmm, good coffee!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that you know a little bit more about Green Mountain Coffee and their Fair Trade practices, I get to tell you something pretty awesome. BlogHer and Green Mountain Coffee are offering one of my readers a chance to win a Keurig as well as a bunch of delicious Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--4U_b0zQFjk/Tmjlb0mCdsI/AAAAAAAAAtU/f6X_Ljvqg9Y/s1600/IMG_2432.JPG"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--4U_b0zQFjk/Tmjlb0mCdsI/AAAAAAAAAtU/f6X_Ljvqg9Y/s400/IMG_2432.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5650017998673704642" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's how you can win. I was also asked if I would talk on video to tell my readers what I had learned about the MinuteClinics. I am being compensated to write this post, however, after learning about these clinics (which are located within your select CVS/pharmacy stores) I am more than happy to share what I learned with you.&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;When I sat down with the nurse practitioner, I asked specifically about Sports physicals. If they preform them and if so, how much they cost, etc. Let me tell you why this was interesting to me.  My son wanted to try out for the high school basketball team. During that time, my oldest son was graduating from high school. I was so busy with preparation for his graduation, I hadn't paid attention to much else. I  was reminded the day of my son's graduation that Ethan's physical needed to be completed BY THAT VERY SAME DAY. I panicked. I called my doctor's office to see if I could get him in. No. I could not. Not only that, I couldn't get him in for THREE WEEKS.  (The first tryout was the following week.)  Now, had I known about the MinuteClinic, I could have walked my son into the local CVS/pharmacy store, without an appointment, and had the physical completed there for a low cost THAT DAY. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I know that many of my readers have children in sports. Most sports teams (and sports camps) require a sports physical. That is why I thought this would be interesting for you to learn about.  Physicals do not require an appointment and start at around $59. This is great if you do not have insurance and need for your child to have a physical. It's also convenient because you don't have to wait for three weeks like I did. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here are other points that I learned about MinuteClinics.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;*They are open 7 days a week. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;*No appointments are necessary&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;*They accept most insurance &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;*if you do not have insurance, you can pay via cash or credit and prices for services are posted outside each health care center (most treatments start at $79-$89)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;If you'd like to learn more about MinuteClinics, you can visit their  &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "&gt;&lt;a href="http://goo.gl/IPofy" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;website.&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Here's a fun little video I made after learning about MinuteClinic at BlogHer.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;iframe src="http://c3348996.r96.cf0.rackcdn.com/CVS-Full-Yvonne.html?v=1" width="400" height="225" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Now that you too know about MinuteClinics, tell me-- is this type of service something that would be beneficial to your family?&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;Please visit the &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/HBecV" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;BlogHer Promotions &amp;amp; Prizes section&lt;/a&gt; to read what other bloggers learned about MinuteClinic.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-455916064032476847?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/455916064032476847/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/08/just-before-i-headed-off-to-blogher-i.html#comment-form' title='1 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/455916064032476847'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/455916064032476847'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/08/just-before-i-headed-off-to-blogher-i.html' title=''/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><thr:total>1</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-3103999512372309792</id><published>2011-07-05T09:19:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-08-16T06:53:03.726-07:00</updated><title type='text'>I Moved, I Earned, I Entered-- Degree Get into the Move with motionSENSE Challenge</title><content type='html'>&lt;script language="JavaScript1.1" src="http://oascentral.blogher.org/RealMedia/ads/adstream_jx.ads/blogher.org/Degree_Jun11_Review_009/@x13"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;For the past two weeks, I've been tracking my movements using &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/WjmDY" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Degree's Get into the Motion Facebook app&lt;/a&gt;. Every evening, I'd enter movements that I made throughout the day and earn motionMILES for those movements&lt;div&gt;.
&lt;br /&gt;MotionMILES are a fun way to earn prizes. Here's how:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;When you're ready, you can redeem your motionMILES in one of four ways.
&lt;br /&gt;Play instant win game- this is where I spent the majority of my motionMILES because you get to spin a wheel that has some pretty cool prizes- like Amazon &amp;amp; iTunes gift cards. I'm ashamed to admit this is where I spent most of the motionMILES I had earned.  I couldn't stop spinning that wheel and thinking "this time, the Amazon gift card will be mine!" (This is why I only go to Vegas once a year.) &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Enter weekly drawing- Each week there will be a drawing for some great prizes (Fingers crossed I win one!) There's a Fun in the Sun package, a Shop-til-you-drop Package which includes a J. Crew $500 gift card and a personal shopping session at J. Crew! (WANT.)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Enter a grand prize drawing- There are three grand prizes.  A surfing trip to Hawaii,  a ski trip in the Alps, and yoga immersion in Costa Rica.  Why WOULDN'T you track movements and enter to win these fabulous prizes?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Donate motionMILES to charity- There are two charities to choose from. Challenged Athletes and Girl's in the Game. The goal is to reach 50,000 motionMILES which will turn into $5,000 to put towards the charity.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I plan on continuing to track my movements using this app as I continue to strive to reach my personal fitness goals.   I love the idea of chances to win really great prizes by simply entering my movements here. Simple, fun and easy.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I do want to talk about something else I've learned over the past two weeks while I've been moving and sweating in order to lose these last 40 pounds-- I LOVE LOVE LOVE Degree with motionSENSE deodorant. The first and only deodorant that is activated by movement and not perspiration-- I notice the difference in how fresh this deodorant keeps me and how long it lasts. It feels just a liiiiittle bit awkward talking about my love for deodorant, but you guys, I love how fresh it keeps me throughout the day and especially the workouts.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Now, the fun part. I'm giving away one more $100 Visa gift card! What I did know is that I am a fan of both Coca-Cola and McDonald's and I was looking forward to learning more about both companies.  I know it's not popular to admit that you are a fan of McDonald's or Coca-Cola, because, you know, obesity! Fattening! Sugar!  But you know what? There is a thing called "moderation" and it is wonderful because it allows you to enjoy things that you love, that may be fattening or sugar-y every once in a while.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;True, yes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The event started bright and early Monday morning with a lovely breakfast inside the World of Coca-Cola building. After breakfast, the lovely Elisa of BlogHer led us in a Vision Board Exercise. Let me tell you, nothing stresses me out more than having to "craft like" things. I am the worst, THE WORST! With a little help and guidance from Jenny, who lovingly demanded that I stop tearing photos out and start cutting/gluing, I was able to quite accurately represent, through old magazine clippings,  what was holding me back from being successful with my blog (in my life) and a clear visual of what I hoped to be able to accomplish with both in the future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WIq2_lLyfUw/TfvV9K1fXhI/AAAAAAAAAEE/Ixg2Nfienpo/s1600/263811_10150222162707964_650477963_7131310_5577817_n.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WIq2_lLyfUw/TfvV9K1fXhI/AAAAAAAAAEE/Ixg2Nfienpo/s320/263811_10150222162707964_650477963_7131310_5577817_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5619320206932270610" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We were asked to stand in front of the group, explain our vision boards and choose one word to represent it. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I couldn't do it. I couldn't think of just one word because, you guys, life is stressful for me right now and I'm feeling lost, overwhelmed, guilty, stressed, and like I'm doing it wrong. I stood up there, shaking and trying so hard not to cry as I explained my board. I tried to make sense of it all, but I couldn't.  And right then I realized how very lost I feel in my life, both online and offline right now. And right then I realized that I needed to be there with people who could relate and who could offer words of support and encouragement. It probably sounds cheesy, but it was pretty awesome.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Shortly after that experience, we were introduced to four incredible women who were part of the women's leadership council.  I was still feeling emotional about my near break down during the vision board session when Jenny asked the panel a question. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"How do you balance it all?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will never forget the response.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;"Balance is a false goal. I am unwilling to put a job I love against a family I love." &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Whoa. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She spoke about managing your life in slices-- work, kids, home, marriage. I hate to go All Oprah on you, but that was definitely an "a-ha moment" for me. I have been trying to balance it all-- my job, my time with my children, household chores- and have been failing miserably. Her words helped me see things from an entirely new and wonderful perspective.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tq9S-PDk-Zc/TfvWK4Qs8LI/AAAAAAAAAEM/U_zzrvJk5vs/s1600/249740_1986105646178_1049390281_2298103_2545698_n.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 155px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tq9S-PDk-Zc/TfvWK4Qs8LI/AAAAAAAAAEM/U_zzrvJk5vs/s320/249740_1986105646178_1049390281_2298103_2545698_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5619320442464301234" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That session alone was worth the trip. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Later that afternoon, we were treated to a tour of The World of Coca-Cola lead by archivist, Phil Mooney!  Mr.Mooney was a wealth of information and a pure joy to listen to and learn from. I have to be honest, I did not know that The World of Coca-Cola existed. What a fun place! I would love to be able to take my family there some time.  If only so that I can get my chance on the machine where you get to try to replicate the Coca-Cola logo. (Didn't get a chance while I was there, two little adorable girls were hogging it up the entire time. I may still be bitter.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VVtEw8wAcZo/TfvWarXoQMI/AAAAAAAAAEU/bAneBfwvALg/s1600/249621_10150222162502964_650477963_7131307_1680249_n.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 266px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VVtEw8wAcZo/TfvWarXoQMI/AAAAAAAAAEU/bAneBfwvALg/s320/249621_10150222162502964_650477963_7131307_1680249_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5619320713881600194" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After the tour was over, we got to enjoy samples of Coca-Cola products from around the world. THIS IS A REAL THING! WITH REAL BEVERAGES FROM AROUND THE WORLD! What a great place. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Day number two was spent a Coca-Cola headquarters where we learned about the company and some of their community and health initiatives. The most discussed program was  &lt;a href="http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/dynamic/press_center/2011/02/sprite-spark-parks-project.html"&gt; Sprite Sparks Parks&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;Sprite Spark Parks Project to invest $2 million to construct, refurbish and refresh more than 150 neighborhood parks, athletic fields, playgrounds and basketball courts in 2011&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While in a session while we were learning about things like "aspartame" and how the body processes it, I noticed some rumbling on Twitter about the event. I was confused because no one from Coca-Cola had made any health claims about their product other than "it was safe to consume in moderation." Which is true!  I do not allow my kids to drink Coke or any soda on a daily basis, but they are allowed to have a glass/can occasionally. It's the same with candy or cake or cookies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was impressed with Coca-Cola's willingness to answer our questions, to provide us with their research, and to allow us to have a frank and honest conversation. They were definitely there to engage us in conversation, not sell us a product. It was, dare I say it, I'm going to say it,  &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;refreshing. &lt;/span&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(I would love to share with you all of the information that I learned about their beverages, including research on aspartame,  but their informative website- &lt;a href="http://thebeverageinstitute.org"&gt;TheBeverageInstitute&lt;/a&gt;-- will do a much better job than I can in this blog post.)&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I would like to end this by telling you that this event was inspiring, informative and well, &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;fun. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt; I enjoyed the company of the other women in attendance (who are all way smarter than me. And if you don't believe me, go read their posts and you'll see what I mean.)  Many thanks to Coca-Cola for inviting me and to BlogHer for making this happen.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-5773203121778700869?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/5773203121778700869/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/06/conversations-with-coca-cola.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5773203121778700869'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5773203121778700869'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/06/conversations-with-coca-cola.html' title='Conversations With Coca-Cola'/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WIq2_lLyfUw/TfvV9K1fXhI/AAAAAAAAAEE/Ixg2Nfienpo/s72-c/263811_10150222162707964_650477963_7131310_5577817_n.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-5934135808191172199</id><published>2011-06-09T16:27:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-06-10T09:46:45.287-07:00</updated><title type='text'>On Living Positively</title><content type='html'>&lt;script language="JavaScript1.1" src="http://oascentral.blogher.org/RealMedia/ads/adstream_jx.ads/blogher.org/CocaCola_Jul11_Review_001/@x13"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've been invited to take part in a blogger event sponsored by Coca-Cola next week. (Super! Excited!) One of the cornerstones of Coke's philosophy is Live Positively. I've asked myself the question-- Do I live positively?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The honest answer is I'm trying.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Living positively is not something that comes naturally for me. I have struggled with negative self, body image since I was a teenage years and that negativity had spilled over into other aspects in my life. When you view yourself as "not worthy" of good things, it's hard to live positively.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Two years ago, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. My perspective on life and the way that I live it changed drastically. I've learned that in order to live life to the fullest, I would have to let go of the negativity and embrace positivity. I had to change my attitude about myself and the body that I live in.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I take practical steps towards living a more positive life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I take care of my body. I exercise daily, allowing myself one day of rest. Moving and pushing my body has made me stronger physically (and helped me lose 59 pounds!) I run, I lift weights, I take Zumba classes. I also play outdoors with my children. Riding bikes, basketball with the teenagers, etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I surround myself with friends and family who are loving and supportive. I try to spend as much time with those people as possible-- Dinner, dancing, eating good food, getting the kids together. Life is good when you're surrounded by good people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I treat myself kindly. This may sound cheesy and I'm okay with that. I spent most of my teenage and adult life putting myself down. I decided I may not be the most fabulous person on the planet, but I am deserving of love and kindness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm looking forward to attending this event with Coca-Cola and would love to be able to take some of your questions with me. If you have any questions you'd like for me to ask on your behalf, please leave your question in the comment section and I will do my best while I'm there to get an answer for you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(Disclosure: I have been compensated by BlogHer for writing this post. Additionally Coca-Cola will be paying for my travel, lodging and activities while in Atlanta.)&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-5934135808191172199?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/5934135808191172199/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/06/ive-been-invited-to-take-part-in.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5934135808191172199'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5934135808191172199'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/06/ive-been-invited-to-take-part-in.html' title='On Living Positively'/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-313197328160971649</id><published>2011-06-06T13:15:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-07-19T09:02:38.317-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Degree motionSENSE- Join the Movement!</title><content type='html'>&lt;script language="JavaScript1.1" src="http://oascentral.blogher.org/RealMedia/ads/adstream_jx.ads/blogher.org/Degree_Jun11_Review_009/@x13"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OuwtSfTteCo/Te1SXDO-Q0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/9kWgkFjDj8U/s1600/weightloss11.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 294px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OuwtSfTteCo/Te1SXDO-Q0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/9kWgkFjDj8U/s320/weightloss11.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5615234866359452482" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've recently lost 59 pounds. For health reasons, I have to lose another 35 pounds. I know that the only way this will be possible is by moving my body and staying active. Exercise has been the key to losing weight and it will be the key to getting to my goal weight.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you're active, you need a few things. Comfortable clothing, a good pair of shoes, motivating music on your ipod and a good deodorant.  I was sent a sample of Degee motionSENSE deodorant and truth? I loved it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MotionSENSE technology is different in this way-- most deodorants/anti-perspirants release fragrance upon contact with sweat. motionSENSE is designed to start working when you start moving (tiny capsules break and release once friction takes place) keeping you fresher for longer. Longer Underarm Freshness= good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have set a few fitness goals for myself that I want to achieve before the end of August.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;* lose 20 pounds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;* Run 2 miles outside (not on the treadmill.) I have such a hard time running outdoors and I want to overcome this. I want to be a Real Runner-- not a treadmill runner! (The only 5k's I have ever ran have been on a treadmill.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;* shrink my waist by 3 inches.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the problem:  My life has become busier than normal and it's becoming harder and harder to find the time to fit in an hour workout each day. But I have a plan! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will go to bed earlier so that I can do my workout before the work day begins. This means going to bed before 10pm and getting up at 5:30 am to be sure I have eaten, worked out and recovered before 9am.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Degree has a new app-- a Facebook app that I plan on using as I work to achieve my goals. It's called &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/WjmDY" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;"Get into the Move"&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;About the app:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;About the app:&lt;br /&gt;Move. Our time with Stephanie was short, but she was effective at communicating valuable advice about balancing it all. Because anyone with children in sports understands how difficult that can be.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;(Watch this video with &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/YTPe0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Stephanie Hamm!&lt;/a&gt;)&lt;/span&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The most important thing that I took away from our conversation with Stephanie is that we should let our children try as many sports as they want to so that they can figure out what it is they love and thrive at. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My boys have played sports since they were three years old. And they &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;have loved it&lt;/span&gt;. The Middle Child is the one who is passionate about sports.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L5j3sRblhHo/TdWf_4Bxt3I/AAAAAAAAADg/5BQWF51SJvY/s1600/05-19-2011%2B01%253B01%253B43PM.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 210px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L5j3sRblhHo/TdWf_4Bxt3I/AAAAAAAAADg/5BQWF51SJvY/s320/05-19-2011%2B01%253B01%253B43PM.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5608564830680233842" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When he was just a toddler, he fell in love with the game of basketball. He's played city league every single season (with the exception of the one season he broke his toe playing soccer.)  He played on the 7th and 8th grade middle school team. And he has big plans for high school basketball, starting this summer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dtPV1_sMDs8/TdWquxunJTI/AAAAAAAAADo/AeTYTh2rglI/s1600/IMG_8928.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dtPV1_sMDs8/TdWquxunJTI/AAAAAAAAADo/AeTYTh2rglI/s320/IMG_8928.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5608576631559365938" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This call with &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/oiqaY" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Gatorade&lt;/a&gt; was eye opening and full of extremely valuable information. I Thought I had been doing it right when it came to nutrition and hydration for my (not so) little athlete-- turns out, I wasn't.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was taking notes so hard while listening to Lisa Esposito from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here are the key things that I learned during this part of the call&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*Most athletes start practice already dehydrated. It is important that kids start drinking fluids that contain electrolytes 4 hours before practice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*It's important that athletes have 10--20 grams protein at least 30-60 minutes after a game for muscle recovery.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*It's important that athletes have carbohydrates before a game and even during. This is where Gatorade is so beneficial. Not only is your child staying hydrated, but they are getting electrolytes and carbohydrates to keep them fueled up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gatorade has developed an amazing site for &lt;a href="http://gatorade.com/moms/home.aspx"&gt;Sports Moms&lt;/a&gt;.  From the main page:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;The vital role you play in your young athlete’s achievement and success is immeasurable. Here you’ll find expert advice, insights and information to help you give your athlete the support they need at every stage of competitive development.&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You should visit &lt;a href="http://goo.gl/oiqaY" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;the site&lt;/a&gt; to check out all of the great resources. The thing that I most love about the site is Gatorade's BECOME campaign. This campaign is using real moms in their ads as well as real and celebrity moms in webisodes. I know how hard it is to be a Sports Mom, so it's great to see Gatorade recognizing these women and their young athletes with this campaign! You should definitely go take a look at these videos-- they are touching and inspirational. (I MAY have cried little bit a couple of times.) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm proud to be a part of this campaign, to help spread the word about Gatorade and what they're doing with Sports Moms. I'm also happy to be able to offer you a chance to win a $100 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods. (Be sure to visit BlogHer's&lt;a href="http://bit.ly/h0UPKP" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;Prizes &amp; Promotions section&lt;/a&gt; for more chances to win!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's what you need to do. Answer this question in the comment section.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you had a chance to talk to the mother of a professional athlete and you could ask them one question, what would that question be?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;You MUST include a valid email address within your comment to be entered to win&lt;/span&gt;. Sweepstakes dates are 6/1-6/30. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rules:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No duplicate comments.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You may receive (2) total entries by selecting from the following entry&lt;br /&gt;methods:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a) Leave a comment in response to the sweepstakes prompt on this post&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b) Tweet about this promotion and leave the URL to that tweet in a comment&lt;br /&gt;on this post&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c) Blog about this promotion and leave the URL to that post in a comment on&lt;br /&gt;this post&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;d) For those with no Twitter or blog, read the official rules to learn about&lt;br /&gt;an alternate form of entry.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This giveaway is open to US Residents age 18 or older&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Winners will be selected via random draw, and will be notified by e-mail.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You have 72 hours to get back to me, otherwise a new winner will be&lt;br /&gt;selected.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Official Rules are available &lt;a href="http://www.blogher.com/g-rules-2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good luck!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-5589085914617123989?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/5589085914617123989/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/05/last-week-i-was-lucky-enough-to-join.html#comment-form' title='61 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5589085914617123989'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/5589085914617123989'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2011/05/last-week-i-was-lucky-enough-to-join.html' title='Gatorade, Sports Moms and Your Chance to Win a $100 Gift Card to Dick&apos;s Sporting Goods'/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L5j3sRblhHo/TdWf_4Bxt3I/AAAAAAAAADg/5BQWF51SJvY/s72-c/05-19-2011%2B01%253B01%253B43PM.JPG' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>61</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-301645466305609732</id><published>2011-05-10T11:44:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2011-07-01T09:04:20.448-07:00</updated><title type='text'>The One Where I Try Mary Kay Makeup For the First Time. It is a magnetic, refillable compact that makes it easy to carry your favorite selection of Mary Kay products.  It also has a compartment at the bottom to hold the brushes, but is compact enough to fit in a small handbag with ease.  I look forward to switching out different colors in the future. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5708054898/" title="marykay6 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3118/5708054898_9c5f94fcc3.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="marykay6"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707490959/" title="marykay7 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2757/5707490959_2999563a51.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="marykay7"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now looks like this:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707491477/" title="marykay10 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3361/5707491477_56343f98da.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="marykay10"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707491741/" title="marykay11 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2506/5707491741_715d71c137.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="marykay11"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Awesome, yes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, onto the makeup!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was a bit surprised to see blue shadow in my eye palette. I have never worn blue eyeshadow because I'm scared of blue eyeshadow. However, I was willing to trust Mary Kay and give it a try.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have to say, I was grateful for the instructions provided. As much I love makeup, I am not very good at applying makeup. It was super helpful to have a "how to" guide to follow, especially since I was going to be using a color that I was not 100% comfortable using.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm happy to say that I was pleased with the results. The blue was deep, yet subtle and made my boring brown eyes "pop!" &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Before: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707502745/" title="marykay14 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2129/5707502745_b38bbdc27e.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="marykay14"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707490283/" title="marykay4 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2631/5707490283_dec35b67df.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="marykay4"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Can we talk about the mascara for a minute? Because this mascara was fabulous. It went on smoothly, made my lashes look long and thick without any clumping. I have been pretty set on the same mascara for a while now, but I will absolutely continue to use this mascara.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5708054058/" title="marykay3 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3423/5708054058_b0de184c9a.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="marykay3"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(Hello, wrinkles!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bonus: my daughter enjoying the heck out of the Tinted Lip Balm&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5707492199/" title="marykay13 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2502/5707492199_861640270e.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="marykay13"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, here comes the fun part! They taste so gross!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BECAUSE I SAID SO!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That was a conversation I had with my mother over and over again at the dinner table when I was a child. "Eat your peas! Because I said so!" was pretty much the only conversation we ever had about vegetables. I was forced to eat peas, but I was never told why I should eat them or how they benefited my body, my well being.  I knew when I had children that I would do it differently. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Keeping my family healthy is important to me, especially considering my family's history with heart disease and diabetes.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I always have explained to my children why it's important that they eat fruits and vegetables. I make them try things at least once, if they absolutely hate them, they don't have to eat them again. However, they do have to have servings of fruit, veggies daily.  Whether it be a salad with dinner, a banana with milk before bed, or a nice tall glass of orange juice in the morning. I don't care- so long as they have balanced meals and meaningful snacks. This does not mean I don't allow them to have desserts or a cookie for a snack or cereal for breakfast. (Everything in moderation.) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to making sure that my children have a healthy variety of food each day, I make sure that they are active. They're enrolled in sports, they ride bikes, we take walks or go on runs together. We shoot hoops in the front yard or at the park. Getting in exercise every day is just as important as eating a healthy amount of fruit and veggies each day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How do you keep your family healthy? This made it very easy to decide what products to purchase with my Walgreen's gift card: New toothbrushes (and oral care products)for everyone! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w_ubZlbZFvw/TXUMLkfFmcI/AAAAAAAAAC4/8K9C24bOYbc/s1600/awalgreens.JPG"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 302px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w_ubZlbZFvw/TXUMLkfFmcI/AAAAAAAAAC4/8K9C24bOYbc/s320/awalgreens.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581380706107759042" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We shop at our local Walgreens a couple of times each week. Usually, to buy a pack of gum, or to make a photo CD. I had never purchased Walgreens Brand Health &amp; Wellness brand product before this review. Which is weird because I'm all about value and savings. And oh, the value and savings this brand has to offer! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's going to be really hard for me not to geek out about how much I saved buying the Walgreen's brand products. It's taking everything in me to not make a Named Brand -vs- Walgreens Brand savings chart.  Complete with Smiley Faces and lots! of! exclamation! points! Instead, I'll just stick to the facts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A 4-pack of brushes, that were comparable to Colgate brand, cost me $3.49. A 2-pack of brushes of Colgate brushes was $5.99. Boom! Savings!  And let me tell you, the brushes are great! I purchased the "soft" because I have sensitive teeth (i.e. I'm old.) They weren't too soft- the bristles were firm and so very full. This is no BS, I prefer them over my old toothbrushes and will be using them from now on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mouthwash is a staple in our house. We normally use Listerine Whitening pre-rinse as well as Listerine mouthwash.  Walgreen's Whitening Pre-Rinse and Mouth Rinse were comparable in taste and freshness. But the price is what won me over. I paid $2.00 for the 1 liter mouth rinse (TWO! DOLLARS!) which is less than half of what I normally pay for a mouthwash. The Whitening Pre-Rinse was $2.79. Basically, I paid less for both rinses than I normally do for one bottle of mouthwash. How great is that? So great. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also purchased Walgreens Oral Health toothpaste-- a great value at $1.99, but I don't think I would purchase that particular toothpaste again. The taste was a tad too bitter for my liking. My husband disagrees-- he loved it and said he will use it again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to value, it is important to me that products I use for my family are of a high quality. That is why I'm impressed with Walgreens Brand Health &amp; Wellness products. I received a great value product without sacrificing quality. (Most of the products contain the same active ingredients as national brands.) Based on my experience with these items, would I recommend you try Walgreens Brand Health &amp; Wellness Products? Absolutely, yes. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BlogHer is giving away a $100 Walgreens gift card so that one lucky reader can have an opportunity to experience the great values Walgreens has to offer! I received nutritional information and orange juice to use and facilitate my review.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;This is a sponsored post. It's true. I was paid to write this post and I was asked to give you information about Tropicana orange juice. But, the only reason that I agreed to participate in this program is because my family loves orange juice. In fact, we are kind of obsessed with the stuff.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;You see, mornings in our home are hectic. I have three kids that go to three different schools that start at three different times. Things can get crazy and complicated. While I believe that it is important to start my children's day off right- with a good, healthy breakfast, the truth is that I don't always have time to make a healthy breakfast. There are some mornings where they have to eat a bowl of cereal, or perhaps (gasp) a pastry.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;And this is why I am so in love with orange juice. I may not always have time to make them a healthy breakfast (even though I try. I try so hard!) I never let them leave the house without drinking a glass, because I know that glass of juice is full of &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;so much Good.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qb5egrDf33U/TX42E6XM28I/AAAAAAAAADI/HE_kGJCCcQM/s1600/023.JPG"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qb5egrDf33U/TX42E6XM28I/AAAAAAAAADI/HE_kGJCCcQM/s320/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5583960045999938498" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Good: Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice has no added sugars or artificial sweeteners.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Good: There are 16 fresh-picked oranges squeezed into each 59 oz. container of orange juice
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Good: Each 8 oz glass equals two fruit servings, has a full day's supply of vitamin C, has as much potassium as a medium banana (for a healthy heart) and is a natural source of the B vitamin folate.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;So, so good, that orange juice.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Want to learn more? If you asked me to name 2 things that I have a hard time getting my children to do,I would have to say "homework and eating their vegetables."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I deal with each of these dilemmas much differently.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it comes to homework, there are no choices. Homework has to be done, on time, every single night- NO EXCUSES. I found that making my kids do their homework the minute they got home just didn't work. They'd whine "but I'm hungry! I'm tired! etc!"  So, we came to an agreement. They get 30 minutes to unwind from their day at school. They can do whatever they please in that 30 minutes- eat a snack, watch a little TV, go online. But, when those  30 minutes are up- it's electronics, off. Brain, ON. Allowing them some time to unwind has made homework time ALMOST bearable for all of us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, getting my kids to eat healthy is a whole different ballgame. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First of all, I do not force my children to eat vegetables that they absolutely hate. I was traumatized as a child when my parents forced me to eat peas and wouldn't let me up from the table until I had finished every last one. I swore I'd never do that to my children.   &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, how do I get my children to eat vegetables?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have a deal-- they have to try a food/vegetable at least once. If they don't like it, I won't ever ask them to eat it again. It's not always easy getting them to try something, but because they know I will not force them to continue eating something that they don't like, they eventually give in and try it.  Surprisingly, they almost always end up saying something like "you're right, it IS good." Or "Not as bad as I thought it would be!"  (Not the case with Brussels sprouts. Every single one of my kids hated those with a passion.) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If they try something and they don't like it (but they don't hate it) I try to find a way to make them like it. For example, I'll let them dip carrots in ranch dressing or add a little bit of melted cheese on top of broccoli. Another trick I've used is using rice vinegar for added flavor--chop up some cucumbers, tomatoes and carrots, and put them in a bowl with a little rice vinegar-- they'll eat every last bite. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I imagine you have these kind of struggles with your children as well. I decided to do things a little different here: I asked my daughter to share her experience in her own words.  Before I post what she had to say, I just want to say that Disneyland during the Holidays is truly magical.  The decorations, the music, the parade, the fireworks-- it's all so wonderful and perfect. My family had an incredible day and we are truly grateful to Disneyland for making it such an amazing experience. (The fast pass to It's a Small World was THE BEST THING EVER.) Thank you, Disneyland!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My Day at Disneyland- by Gabby&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last weekend I went to Disneyland. It was fun! Because I went on a rollercoaster. I closed my eyes on the matterhorn because I was afraid of the abominable snowman.  I just didn't like that part because it was too scary for me.  I got to see the parade. It was very fun because I got to see some of my favorite characters.  My favorite part of the parade was when Mickey and Minnie were ice skating together.  I loved the music in the parade because it was pretty.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I loved the Toy Story ride because you got to shoot at things and there were different levels.  It was really fun to go on the rides that I was tall enough for-- like space mountain and matterhorn and thunder mountain.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My favorite ride was It's a Small World because it was a kid ride. I love the difference from the regular Small World to the Christmas small world. The Christmas small world is fun because it is very Christmasy.  I liked Woody and Jesse. Christmas it's a small world is beautiful. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also went on the Terror of Terror. I liked the video that they showed before the ride because it explained the ride and because it showed how the elevator got struck by lightening. The ride was so tickly on my tummy. I wasn't scared at all and I was kind of mad that my mom put her arm on my legs because I couldn't feel the ride that much and next time I don't want my mommy to hold me on that ride. I like when it kept on going up and down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My day of Disneyland was so fun because I got to see everything that I wanted to see and when I made a wish, my wish came true.  I love Disneyland.  Thank you Disneyland for a great day for me and my family!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/5261976589/" title="disney10 (1 of 1) by mamarosa, on type='text'>Let's Talk About Sex(ting)</title><content type='html'>&lt;div style="float:left;margin-right:5px"&gt;&lt;script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://ads.blogherads.com/reviews/lg/29.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic"&gt;This is sponsored content from BlogHer and LG Text Ed&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I have 2 teenage sons who both have cell phones and who both use those cell phones for texting. I suppose as a responsible parent, one would expect me to say that I've had conversations with them about "sexting." But the truth is, &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;I haven't&lt;/span&gt;.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I have had conversations about what is and is not appropriate to post online. But I've never had the conversation about what is and is not appropriate to send via text messages.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I trust my children with their cell phones. They've been responsible cell phone users and to my knowledge, have never engaged in sexting. But, I suppose I would never know that unless I checked their text messages.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I do not check my children's text messages.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I've never felt that I needed to. I know the people that they talk to and communicate with on a regular basis. (I do check phone records to keep track of those things, but I do not read actual messages.) They're either family members or friends from school. Yes, there is a girlfriend, but again, I have no reason to believe he would be disrespectful or vulgar with his girlfriend either online or via text messaging.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I grew up in a home where privacy did not exist. My parents monitored every aspect of my life, including- but not limited to- the contents of my purse, my backpack, underneath my mattress and inside of any and all pockets. My parents never allowed me to earn their trust. I swore that when I had kids, I would not treat them the way that I was treated.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;And that is why I do not check their text messages. They have yet to give me a reason not to trust that they're not sending sexually explicit text messages/images.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Participating in this campaign has definitely made me more interested in the subject and I am now asking myself the question "have I been an irresponsible parent by NOT talking to my children about this issue?"
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;What do you think? Every single day of my life is hectic and I find that there aren't enough hours in the day. There are kids that need to get to school, bills that need to get paid, errands that need to be ran, people that need to be fed, laundry that needs to be washed, dried and folded, dishes that need to be cleaned, floors that need to be mopped, toilets that need to be scrubbed and that's not everything. There is more. So much more that needs to be done each and every day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Needless to say, there aren't enough hours in the day and most days, things that need to get simply don't get done (proof of that is on my bedroom floor in the form of 4 baskets of laundry that need folded and put again.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can only imagine how my life would change if I were to wake up one day with Super Speed Super Power. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Imagine the time I'd save at the gym! 5k would be done in seconds. Kids would get to school on time! Laundry folded and put away in seconds! We need milk? No problem, I'll be back in 2 minutes!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The time I'd save doing ordinary, every day errands would free up much needed time to do the things I've been putting off. Things like organizing my photos and making photo albums of the photos I've taken over the last twenty years! Starting that photography business I've been talking about for the past 2 years. Spending more time with my beautiful family doing the things that we love-- fishing, camping, hiking, the movies. (And blogging-- I'd have time to blog again!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Life would be pretty amazing with a few extra hours in the day, is what I'm trying to say. Me and my daughter, who was 3 years old at the time, were parked outside of school waiting for The Middle Child to get out. Gas prices were high, so I refused to leave the car running with the air on. So, I turned the car off and rolled down the windows to let the (warm) breeze in. My precious little daughter was sitting in her car seat, waiting patiently for her brother. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A car pulled up and parked in front of us. A woman got out of the car, shut the door and hit the lock button from her keys. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*beep beep* went the car as she locked it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Suddenly, without warning, my daughter shouted at the woman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"DUMMY ASS!"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I heard it. But my ears couldn't believe what I had just heard.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The woman looked over at us. I turned my head away from her, looked at my daughter and asked her WHY DID YOU JUST CALL THAT WOMAN A DUMMYASS?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Because, she was all honkin' her horn at us and that was rude!" She responded.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was stunned. DID MY 3 YEAR OLD REALLY JUST SAY THAT? She did. &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;OhmyGod&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"She wasn't honking at us. That was her car alarm!" &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"No, she honked at us and &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;you always yell 'dummy ass' at people who honk at you when you're driving&lt;/span&gt;!"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And that's when I realized my daughter had just done the perfect impression of me as a driver. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From that day on, I never yelled "dumbass" while driving again. Let me rephrase that, I never yelled "dumbass" while driving when my daughter was in the car with me. But it took AN ENTIRE YEAR to get my daughter to stop saying "the word that mommy says when she gets mad at dummyass drivers."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8th Continent knows that being a mom isn't easy and they want to salute motherhood for what it is: doing your best every day. Of course, no one is perfect and we all make mistakes while trying to do our best. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;object width="560" height="340"&gt;&lt;param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aBOSHkUhs2E?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aBOSHkUhs2E?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"&gt;&lt;/embed&gt;&lt;/object&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;228634688;52708785;c"&gt;8 Continent&lt;/a&gt; is giving away a $100 and a 6 month supply of 8th Continent to one of you. We'd eat every meal together at the table. Every Saturday night was game night. Every Friday night, we'd go out for dinner at our favorite diner. We'd spend Saturday mornings at the boy's basketball games and Sunday mornings in church, followed by Sunday lunch with family and friends.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;As our children have grown older and our schedules got more complicated, finding time to spend together is challenging. Our boys are older and they would rather spend time doing things with friends. Luckily, our daughter is young enough to think that spending time with mommy and daddy is still fun. But getting the 5 of us together to spend time together is more of a challenge.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;That is why I didn't hesitate to accept McDonald's invitation to attend the Family Time in Illinios. I looked at it as an opportunity to spend quality time with my family while at the same time learning more about McDonald's. In my previous post I mentioned what an amazing time my family had while there. So many activities for the family to do together. It was wonderful and made me miss the simpler days when my family wanted nothing more than to spend time together.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;While we were there, McDonald's introduced their new campaign- "Family Time. Happy Time." As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to bring families together, McDonald’s launched a new national fundraiser in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®). For each Happy Meal® and Mighty Kids Meal® sold in the U.S., a portion of the sales will be donated to RMHC – McDonald’s “Charity of Choice” for more than 35 years. As part of the campaign, you can get involved by pledging time with your family through the “Make Family Time Happy Time” online application. For each minute pledged, McDonald’s will donate one penny to the Charity, with the goal of reaching 1 million minutes and a $10,000 donation to RMHC.”
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I absolutely loved the idea. You simply pledge to spend time with your family and in doing so, help families who want nothing more than to be together while facing medical challenges.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyODA*MjQzNTY*MDImcHQ9MTI4MDQyNTM2ODg4NSZwPTkxOTI*MSZkPU1jRG9uYWxkcyUyME1jRE1pbnV*ZXMmZz*y/Jm89YTAwZDYxNjJmNDk*NDA3MDhhMjBkN2U1NzU*MDAyMTYmb2Y9MA==.gif" /&gt;&lt;script src="http://mcdminutes.thegameagency.com/flash_detect_min.js" type="text/javascript"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;div id="mcdminutes_widget"&gt;&lt;object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="300" height="380"&gt;&lt;param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /&gt;&lt;param name="movie" value="http://mcdminutes.thegameagency.com/mcdminutes_widget.swf" /&gt;&lt;param name="quality" value="high" /&gt;&lt;param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /&gt;&lt;embed src="http://mcdminutes.thegameagency.com/mcdminutes_widget.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="300" height="380" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"  FlashVars="gig_lt=1280424356402&amp;gig_pt=1280425368885&amp;gig_g=2"/&gt;  &lt;param name="FlashVars" value="gig_lt=1280424356402&amp;gig_pt=1280425368885&amp;gig_g=2" /&gt;&lt;/object&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;if(!FlashDetect.versionAtLeast(10)){document.getElementById('mcdminutes_widget').innerHTML='&lt;img src="http://mcdminutes.thegameagency.com/assets/no_flash.png"&gt;';}&lt;/script&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;To kick off this campaign, McDonald's has given me another Prize Pack to give to one of my readers. I did not hesitate to say yes.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;McDonald's was a part of my childhood-- there was one across the street from my parents neighborhood. I had many happy memories there. I remember washing cars to earn enough money so I could treat my family to burgers and fries. I remember walking there to have ice cream cones with friends. I remember trips with my grandparents to have burgers and fries. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was thrilled to participate in this event, especially because my entire family was invited. That, like, &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;never happens.&lt;/span&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was impressed with McDonald's from the very start. The event was organized-- packed with information and fun activities for the family. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was a nature scavenger hunt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4717675461/" title="105 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4050/4717675461_dd316d00a5.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="105" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was bean bag tossing &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;with Ronald McDonald&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792400450/" title="054 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/4792400450_308160c766.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="054" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was a cool "in the kitchen" with Chef Dan Coudreaut experience, where we got to make fruit kabobs and smoothies with our children. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792417954/" title="154 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/4792417954_99075080dd.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="154" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792423244/" title="163 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4117/4792423244_31768ef5e2.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="163" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792421226/" title="159 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/4792421226_120251ee52.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="159" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792425312/" title="166 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/4792425312_b7d83a188c.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="166" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It wasn't all fun and games. The adults spent hours learning everything there is to know about the company. We were told nothing was off limits, we could ask any questions and write about everything that we saw, heard, learned.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Before this experience, I had no idea how much thought goes into menu items. We took part in a "sensory taste test" in which we learned the aspects McDonald's considers when making menu items. This was by far my favorite part of the trip and I'm not just saying that because I got to eat a McGriddle AND an Egg McMuffin. It was a completely different experience biting into an Egg McMuffin once they explained how "sensory science" works-- appearance, texture, aroma, taste, and even the sound food makes when you bite. It was kind of amazing to me how good my food tasted when I paid attention to those things. (And when my food wasn't drowning in ketchup.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was a lot of focus on Happy Meals and McDonald's commitment to giving kid's healthier choices. My kids love McDonald's and we eat there a few times a month. Mostly because it's convenient, but also because &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;mommy loves their diet coke&lt;/span&gt;.  As a parent, I appreciate the healthier choices, such as the apple dippers and milk instead of soda. McDonald's assured us that they understand parents are concerned with things like sugar and sodium and are constantly working to improve the nutrition of their products. Even if McDonald's is not something we eat regularly, (it's more of a treat, a couple times a month) I do feel more secure in my decision to let my children have a meal there knowing how much thought and consideration goes into the menu and knowing that they are continually striving to improve based on customer feedback. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The most moving part of the experience for me and my family was visiting a Ronald McDonald House in Chicago. It was wonderful to see firsthand the amazing home this charity provides for families in their time of need. From home cooked meals to a clean, peaceful environments- this place is a refuge for families facing the most stressful of times. (&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;As of June 25th a portion of each Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meals sales are now benefiting RMHC&lt;/span&gt;)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4791780227/" title="138 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/4791780227_63cff13beb.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="138" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792412782/" title="139 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4141/4792412782_35100bfdec.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="139" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792414972/" title="143 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/4792414972_e11c0875d0.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="143" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4792411620/" title="137 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/4792411620_1465b44fa0.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="137" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is experience was a positive and informative one for both me and my family. My husband and I appreciated how much consideration went into the care of our children and to ensure that they had a good time and were well fed. I appreciated McDonald's willingness to answer any and all questions that each blogger asked.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;McDonald's has given me a Family Fun Prize pack (worth $100) to giveaway to one of you. They asked me if I would like to pick a dress to give away to one of my readers and one to keep for myself. I clicked over to their site and took a look at their dresses. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So beautiful. So feminine. So... Can I have them all, please?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I accepted their offer. Mostly because I am in desperate need of new clothing after losing 55 pounds. And also because I'm trying to wear more stylish, feminine clothing. So, you know, PERFECT FIT! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I stayed up all night, trying to choose just one. I loved &lt;a href="http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-626-le-soleil.aspx"&gt;this&lt;/a&gt;. It's a tradition! And, admittedly, usually the best part of the party. But, it was nice to not have to shove people out of our room and be able to enjoy everyone's company. Such great conversations were had that night, some that lasted until &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;the next morning&lt;/span&gt;. And let's be honest, the Law Abider in me was secretly pleased to not having a Confrontation With the (Hotel) Law. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thanks to all who made it up to our suite in Houston. And of course, Thanks to McDonalds for making it happen. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can not wait for CheeseburgHer NYC!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-6697249174420505606?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/6697249174420505606/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2010/03/cheeseburgher-at-mom-20-its-our-party.html#comment-form' title='1 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/6697249174420505606'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/6697249174420505606'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2010/03/cheeseburgher-at-mom-20-its-our-party.html' title='CheeseburgHer at Mom 2.0- It&apos;s Our Party and We&apos;ll Fill The Bath Tub With Ice If We Want To.'/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2623/3763733855_59988e837a_t.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>1</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-5806965390013846229</id><published>2009-11-30T17:11:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2009-12-05T09:31:13.023-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Check out my Arbor Mist Sparkling wine party basket, enter to win a $100 visa check card!</title><content type='html'>&lt;div style="float:left;margin-right:5px"&gt;&lt;script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://ads.blogherads.com/reviews/arbor-mist/7.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic"&gt;This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Arbor Mist&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last month me and my husband were kids free for the evening, so we decided to stop and pick up some snacks and a bottle of wine. I immediately noticed Sparkling Wine by Arbor Mist. The thing you need to know about me is that I like my wine sparkly and I like my Arbor Mist, so without hesitation, I picked up a bottle of the raspberry sparkling.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"We're getting fancy tonight." I told my husband, as I put the bottle in the cart.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was expecting it to be over the top sweet, but to my surprise, it wasn't. Just a hint of raspberry flavor. I really enjoyed it-- crisp, bubbly and not overly sweet or fruity. (I bet you're glad I'm not a Professional Reviewer of Wine after reading that, right? I TRIED!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's definitely something I wouldn't hesitate to share with guests in my home. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Which is why I was happy to be a part of this BlogHer review. It's a product I've tried, a product I like and one I think you'll like too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was asked to put together a party themed basket using Arbor Mist Sparkle wine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have created what I believe to be an awesome Party in a Basket.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You know how crazy life can get around the holidays, yes? The stress of planning meals, cooking meals, cleaning the house before the family comes over. Decorating, buying gifts, creating holiday cards. It can be overwhelming. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can't think of a better way to get away from it all then to have a Girl's Night In!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4148326407/" title="aIMG_8366 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2535/4148326407_0207c72d99.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="aIMG_8366" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We'd open a chilled bottle of Arbor Mist Sparkling. There would be plenty of snacks. Cheese, salami, crackers, olives STUFFED WITH FETA CHEESE. And of course, chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. There would be music playing in the background while we eat, sip our Arbor Mist Sparkle wine and gossip. After we we're stuffed from the drinks and snacks, we could play a game or watch a couple of Chick Flicks. Because, seriously, no Girls Night In is complete without a little Patrick Swayze.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4148327541/" title="aIMG_8355 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2699/4148327541_51878bd3c4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="aIMG_8355" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4148328041/" title="aIMG_8400 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2691/4148328041_5c554259c6.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="aIMG_8400" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sounds fun and delicious. We got to spend the day with Tony Hawk on Friday, spend the night in the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad on Friday and Saturday evening. Then, on Sunday we were able to attend Tony Hawk's charity event, Stand up for Skateparks. It was an incredible weekend that was not only exciting and fun, but extremely eye opening and informative. What Tony Hawk is doing for the children is to be applauded. I will write my own take on things, but my son asked if he could post his first. We were not paid for this review, but we were given the game for free as well as a gift card to buy snacks for preview party.) &lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Last month I was lucky to meet Tony Hawk. We got to watch him skate with some friends of his and we had dinner with him on the half pipe. I have to say, he was an all around cool guy. He was humorous. It was so cool when he demonstrated his new game for us!
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4112439245/" title="IMG_6955 by mamarosa, on Flickr"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2675/4112439245_6aee253c12.jpg" width="500" height="381" alt="IMG_6955" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyunexpectedcom/4027910012/" title="Tony Hawk playing his video game. His new game Tony Hawk Ride is the game that brings you closest to skateboarding. Young or old, balanced or not, all you need is the ability to stand and move a little. This game is so realistic you'll think you're actually skating. There was only one con with the game- You have to unlock the levels on each ride mode which can be hard and a little frustrating. But this game is 100 percent fun! Play and you will want to play it over and over. This is a must have game and sure to be loved.
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4741282538510628355-2514021239088866945?l=joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/feeds/2514021239088866945/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-son-reviews-tony-hawk-ride.html#comment-form' title='56 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/2514021239088866945'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/4741282538510628355/posts/default/2514021239088866945'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyunexpectedreviews.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-son-reviews-tony-hawk-ride.html' title='My Son Reviews Tony Hawk &quot;Ride.&quot;'/><author><name>Y</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='21' height='32' src='http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iTuGYD4tzew/TPZkI8mELpI/AAAAAAAAACM/wruS7iwTACw/S220/36826_456551211102_625381102_6071525_5145956_n%2B%25281%2529.jpg'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2675/4112439245_6aee253c12_t.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>56</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741282538510628355.post-276445046080912978</id><published>2009-07-10T10:14:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2009-07-10T10:45:21.068-07:00</updated><title type='text'>First Winner of GoodNites "bedtime kit" announced. Regardless of what's going on, I call home at 8 p.m. to talk to Ethan. I recite, from memory one of his favorite books. I ask about his day. We talk about what he ate for lunch, for dinner. He asks me to smell his stinky feet. We tell one another how much we love the other. Then we give each other Eskimo kisses. I'm sure I look and sound really weird when I'm on these calls, but it doesn't matter. However, there is one in particular that stands out. I used to read each of my boys a bed time story in their own rooms every night, separately. It allowed me to have a few precious minutes alone with each child. But one this particular night, I decided to mix things up a little bit. I called both of the boys to the living room to make my announcement. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Mommy’s not going to read any stories tonight.” I said. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“MOM! WHY NOT!?” They shrieked in horror.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;”Because tonight Mommy wants to tell you stories instead-- stories about when you were babies.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They both squealed in excitement. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I sat on the floor and began to tell them stories. “One time? When I was giving you a bath? You pooped in the tub!" They both erupted into laughter. So I told another one and another. Anytime I'd say "this is the last one." They'd agree, but as soon as I'd finish the story, they'd say “Tell us more, please?” And I would because as I was having the time of my life with my boys.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By the time I kissed them good night, my stomach ached from laughing hard. I promised that we'd do it again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That became one of their favorite bedtime rituals-- listening to stories of when they little. And to this day, if I ever want a little time with my Teenage and Almost Teenage son before bed time, I just sit down on their floor and say "do you know that when you were a baby you would..." And they'll listen to whatever I have to say, and we'll laugh and laugh together.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I like to think they'll never be too old or grown for Story Time with their mama.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm writing this story today to kick off GoodNites ‘Special Bedtime Moments’ contest.
